Accessible, Joyful, and Creative Experiences

MOBILE ART & PLAY WORKSHOPS, CLASSES, AND CAMPS

At Van-Go, we believe art is not about creating a perfect or identical product. Art is a process of discovery, self-expression, and connection. Our teaching style is rooted in open-ended, process-based learning, where exploration is valued over outcome. We partner with your school or organization to develop a meaningful, intentional experience for your special group.

We currently offer one-time specialty workshops, multi-class series, and Schools Out camps. We are working on becoming an approved vendor for New York State public schools.

ABOUT OUR CLASSES AND CAMPS

OUR TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Van-Go instructors act as facilitators and guides. We support children as they experiment with materials, explore their senses, and find their own creative voice. Teachers offer invitations to create rather than directions to follow. There is no single “right way” to make art, and no expectation that every piece will look the same. Innovation is welcome, and deviation is natural.

Our workshops, classes, and camps are designed to be inclusive, flexible, and responsive to the needs of young children. Participation is always invitational. Children are welcome to observe, take breaks, modify materials, or engage in alternative ways. Instructors offer choices whenever possible and avoid forcing participation, labeling emotions as “good” or “bad,” or correcting children’s artistic decisions. Sensory alternatives (hands instead of tools, dry materials instead of wet, quiet spaces for rest) are always acceptable

School Program, Workshops, and Camp FAQs

Here are the questions we get asked on a regular basis about our work with school programs, workshops and camps, and our answers!

What types of school programs or events do you offer?

We offer a wide range of in-school and after-school art programs, from single-session workshops to recurring multi-week series. We also host School’s Out Camps during holiday breaks, parent-teacher conferences, and staff development days.

Yes! Our projects are designed to be flexible, sensory-friendly, and adaptable for different learning styles and abilities. We can modify materials, pacing, and instruction to ensure every child feels supported, successful, and included.

We typically accommodate groups of up to 30 students at a time, but we’re always happy to discuss options for larger groups and find a setup that works for your school or event.

Van-Go provides all art materials for our programs, so there’s no need for the school to supply anything. However, if your school prefers to use its own materials or has specific items you’d like incorporated, we’re happy to be flexible and work with what you have.

Yes! We are happy to schedule a free demo workshop ahead of a series proposal for a select group (this would not apply to an assembly) so you can experience our programming firsthand.

Most of our programs are designed for toddlers through elementary-aged children, but we also offer workshops for adults and intergenerational groups.
